Road crashes kill 4 in two districts

Four people including two women were killed in road accidents in two districts yesterday and on Wednesday. In Rangpur, two women were killed and seven other injured in a road accident at Fire Service Station point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway under Pirganj upazila early yesterday.
The accident occurred when a Thakurgaon bound night coach ‘Ruposhi Paribahan’ from Dhaka hit a roadside tree after the driver lost control over steering at 4:30 am, In-charge of Barodorga highway police camp Sub-inspector (SI) Hafizur Rahman said. Two female passengers were killed on the spot and seven other passengers, including men, women and children, injured in the accident. One deceased was identified as Noorjahan Begum, 36, wife of late Tarikul Islam of village Gohandighee under Khansama upazila in Dinajpur district while identify of another woman, (35), could not be known immediately.
Being informed, Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel from Pirganj Station immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the bodies and injured were sent to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital (RMCH)for treatment, SI Rahman added.
Contacted, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirganj Thana Rezaul Karim confirmed the incident. In Gopalganj, two people were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between two human-haulers (Nasimon) at Gandhiashur in Sadar upazila on Wednesday evening. The deceased were identified as Mahidul Molla, 25, a sales representative of Coca Cola Company and son of Tapu Molla of Debdun village in Naragati upazila of Narail district and nasimon driver Sabur Kazi, 34, son of Bahar Kazi, of Arpara village in Sadar upazila of Gopalganj.
Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Boultali police camp, said the soft drinks-laden Tekerhat-bound human hauler collided with the cattle-laden human hauler in the evening, leaving seven people injured. The injured were admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital where Mahidul and Sabur succumbed to their injures at night.
