1372 cases lodged over traffic rule violation
Taking serious note of growing incidences of glaring violations of traffic rules, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) lodged 1372 cases and realized Taka 10:55 lakh on Wednesday despite the country had gone through an indefinite transport strike that called off on Wednesday afternoon.
It also dumped 5 vehicles and put wrecker in 156 others, said an official release. The cases were lodged on charges of using hydraulic horn, hooter, beckon light, black glasses and driving on wrong routes.
Traffic department of police lodged the cases and realized the money from owners and drivers of different vehicles after conducting raids at different thana area in the capital city, the release said.
Discussion on Police Memorial Day held
RAJSHAHI: Police members here will always remember their deceased colleagues, who sacrificed their lives during discharging their duties, and stand beside their family members.
Some high ranking police officials made the observation while addressing a discussion to mark the Police Memorial Day-2017 at city’s Police Lines conference hall in Rajshahi yesterday.
They also placed floral wreaths at the altar of the monument at the Police Lines earlier in the morning.
Local police authorities chalked out elaborate programmes in observance of the day. More than 800 policemen and their family members joined the programme.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Khurshid Hossain and Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Shafiqul Islam were chief and special guests respectively in the programme.
