Underscoring the need for monitoring the sales of savings certificates, National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md Nojibor Rahman yesterday said steps are needed to stop a single group or organisation from buying more than one types of savings instruments for their benefits, reports BSS.
"Attention will have to be given so that a single group or organisation cannot buy more than one types of savings instruments for their benefits," he said while speaking at a workshop and view-exchange meeting at National Sports Council (NSC) in the capital.
The NBR chief said savings instruments have been introduced to encourage insolvent individuals to make investments.
Department of National Savings (DNS) organised the workshop and meeting with its Director General Babul Kumar Saha in the chair.
Bangladesh Post Office Director General Sushanta Kumar Mandol and Additional Secretary of Internal Resources Division Sultanul Islam Chowdhury spoke at the programme.
Nojibor Rahman said savings certificates are one of the ways of mobilising resources from internal sources.
