BCB North Zone maintained their pole position when they slaughtered defending champions Walton Central Zone by an innings and 85 runs in the fifth round of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
The match between Islami Bank East Zone and Prime Bank South Zone ended in expected draw at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
North Zone vs Central Zone
It was probably impossible for Walton Central Zone to finish the day or take lead in the face of combined bowling attack of North Zone’s bowlers. And so, they lost their rest two wickets to put on 42 on the board with their overnight 229-8. Tanvir Haider converted his 42 to fifty before being dismissed.
East Zone vs South Zone
Resuming the fourth and final day at 29 for no loss, Prime Bank South Zone comfortably finished the day with 198-5 and drew the match. Anamul Haque and Fazle Mahmud shared a 53-run opening partnership before the fall of Anamul, who chimed in with 35.
After losing Imrul Kayes shortly, Mahmud stitched together 41-run with Tushar Imran. Although Tushar got out for 31, he surpassed the milestone of 1000 runs in single season. He was just 27 runs away from the landmark that he did successfully before being bowled by Mohamamd Saifuddin.
