Schoolboy hacked to death in Dhaka

A youth, who was stabbed allegedly by his friends in Mirpur area of the capital on Tuesday night, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday morning. 

The deceased was Sajib, 16, son of Abdur Rashid, hailing from Kishorganj, a student of ninth grad in Holy Crescent School and College in the capital. 
Quoting the eyewitness, Al Mahmud Babu, brother-in-law of the victim, said Sajib was walking in front his residence at West Shewrapara around 11:45 on Tuesday. 
Later, his friend Sourab joined him. Following an altercation over a trifling matter Sourab and his two other friends stabbed Sajib indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. Sajib rushed to DMCH where he succumbed to his injuries at 8.30am on Wednesday, he added. Babu suspected that Sajib might be killed over a relationship with a girl, who is also a student of the same school.  
Al Amin, claiming a friend of Sajib, said Sourab beaten him three to four days ago and also threatened Sajib as he protested the attack. On Tuesday night, when Sajib asked Sourab about the matter, Sourab and his friend Rubel and another youth stabbed Sajib indiscriminately. 
Sajib was first taken to a local clinic then he was shifted to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. As his condition was deteriorated, he was later shifted to the DMCH. Local people detained Rubel and handed over him to the police. But Rubel claimed that he is a garments worker and he does not know another person who was involved in the incident. Sub Inspector Nasir Uddin of Mirpur Model Police Station said, Sourab in now absconding. The body was kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy, he added.
