CHUADANGA: Some 17 drug peddlers from the five unions of Chuadanga Sadar upazila surrendered to police on Tuesday saying “No” to drugs.
They officially surrendered at a function organised by Chuadanga Sadar Thana Police at Sarojganj Paddy Market under the upazila with Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station Tozammel Hossain in the chair.
Acting Superintendent of Police of the district Belayet Hossain addressed the function as the chief guest while Assistant Police Super Torikul Islam and Chuadanga district Krishak League president Azizul Hoque attended the function as special guests.
A large number of people of the area were also present on the occasion.
Belayet Hossain assured the drug peddlers of rehabilitating if they could come back to normal life.
A total of 293 drug peddlers have surrendered since February 21 in the district.
