Call to declare migration sector an industry

Leaders of Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) yesterday urged the government to declare migration sector as an industry considering its contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Speaking at a view exchange meeting with leaders of Journalists Forum on Migration (JFM) at the BAIRA office in the capital, they said the manpower sector contributes about 15.9 per cent to the GDP but the government does not ‘spend any money for it’.
