VIT University chancellor calls on DU VC
Chancellor of VIT University, India and former minister of Tamil Nadu Dr G Viswanathan called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique at the latters office recently.
VIT University Vice President GV Selvam, Vice-Chancellor of Daffodil International University of Bangladesh Prof Yusuf M Islam and DU Prof A I Mostafa were present on the occasion, a DU press release said.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues including possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic programmes between Dhaka University and Indian VIT University.
Expressing his sincere thanks to the top VIT authorities, Prof. Arefin said both the universities should work for further improvement of the academic activities.
RU accords reception to freshers
RAJSHAHI: The authorities of Rajshahi University (RU) accorded reception to the newly admitted students for 2016-17 academic sessions at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium on the campus yesterday.
RU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Mizanuddin attended the function as the chief guest while university student advisor Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman Khan delivered welcome speech.
Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, Treasurer Prof Dr Sayen Uddin Ahmed, registrar Md Entajul Haque, proctor Mojibul Haque Azad Khan, public relation officer Mosiur Rahman, Science faculty dean Akter Fsruque, Zoology department Selina Pervin, among others, addressed the occasion.
RU vice chancellor Prof Muhammed Mizan Uddin said in the age of globalization and communication-technology, students have to face challenges of new technology. The purpose of education is to acquire knowledge from reality and to engage it for the betterment of country and mankind.
NSTU Model United Nations begins May 4
NOAKHALI: Noakhali Science and Technology University Model United Nations 2017 (NSTUMUN 2017) will begin on NSTU premises on May 4 this year, says a press release.
Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) Model United Nations Association (NSTUMUNA) is going to organise the event.
The main theme of this conference is Empowering citizens as a manifesto to peace. NSTUMUN 2017 is conscious of emerging realities and takes the responsibility of promoting global science and technological issues and opportunities on its shoulder.
It is expected that delegates from different renowned institutions of home and abroad will join this four days to remember conference.
NSTUMUN 2017 aims to infuse the interconnection of science and leading ability that will eliminate geographical background.

RU Chhatra Federation 7th council Mar 17
RAJSHAHI: The 7th council of Chhatra Federation, Rajshahi University (RU) cgapter, will be held on March 17 and 18, according to a press release.
The statement said the decision came from a meeting of the 6th committee of RU Chhatra Federation recently.
In the meeting, president of RU unit Chhatra Federation Kingshuk Kinjal and general secretary Nurul Nahid have been made convener and joint convenor respectively for the council organizing committee.
The press release further said the new committee of RU Chhatra Federation will be elected from the two-day council that would help accelerate the movement of the organisation.
