CHITTAGONG: Police in a drive detained 16 leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies from Goods Hill, the ancestral home of executed war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, in the city on Saturday night, reports UNB.
Tipped off that a group of people were holding a “secrete meeting’ in the house of Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, police conducted a drive there around 8pm and detained 16 leaders and activists of BNP, its youth wing Juba Dal and student wing Jatiyabadi Chhatra Dal(JCD), said officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Jasim Uddin.
All of the arrestees are the residents of Rangunia upazila, the OC added.However, Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury, younger brother of Salauddin Quader as well as former BNP lawmaker, said some party leaders and activists came from Rangunia only to meet him in the night.
