6 arrested with 23,000 yaba tablets in Ctg

Police yesterday in a drive in different places of the city arrested six alleged drug peddlers along with 23,000 contraband yaba tablets and a micro bus.

The arrestees were identified as Md Shahabuddin, 34, and Md Rubel 28 hailing Brahmanbraia district, Jashim Uddin,40, of city’s Double Mooring Police station,  Debratra Chakrabarty, 48, hailing from Hazirhar Upazila of Chittagong, Arifur Rahman, 35, from Comilla and Md Enam, from Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
“They are members of drug smuggling syndicate and usually smuggled yaba tablets to Comilla, Brahamanbria and Dhaka afterccollecting it from Teknaf Upazila,” said Mohammad Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakalia Police station. 
“They are involved with the drug smuggling for long time and were arrested earlier in the different police stations of the city but coming out from jail on bail and again involved with the drug smuggling,” added the OC.
Acting on trip-off police detained a microbus at Cantonment Public School circle and arrested four of them along with 3,000 yaba tablets. Getting information from the detainees police conducted another drive and seized the rest of yaba and the ‘smugglers’ from different parts of the city, said police.
