Five CU students suspended

The authorities of Chittagong University (CU) yesterday suspended five students for six months for their alleged involvement in clashes following a facebook post.

The decision was taken at a meeting of Board of Residence Health and Disciplinary Committee of the university.
The students who were expelled are--- Irfatul Alam Pitu, a student of History Department under the academic session 2013-14, Piyash Sarkar of Statistics Department under academic session 2011-12, Nasir Uddin Mishu of Institute of Education and Research under academic session 2012-13, Mahmudul Hasan Rupak of English Department academic session 2013-14 and Mirja Khabir of Law Department under academic session 2014-15.
Irfatul Alam Pitu, a follower of the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, allegedly posted a comment on facebook degrading AL leader ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, his wife Hasina Mohiuddin and their son Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury on February 16. Mentionable, president of city unit AL ABM Mohiuddin Chowdury’s  wife Hasina Mohiuddin is made president of city unit Mahila AL, and son Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel is organising secretary of central committee of AL on February 14 in a council.
Following the status, Mohiuddin's followers locked into a clash with Ifratul and his supporters on the CU campus on February 17. 
As a sequel of the clash, followers of ABM Mohiuddin named --Piyash, Nasir Uddin, Mahmudul Hasan, Mirja Khabir stabbed Nasir's supporter and a CU student Mofazzal Haider Hossain Mufa on February 18.  CU proctor Md Ali Asgar Chowdhury confirmed the matter and said Irfatul Alam Pitu was expelled on charge of incitement to the violence and four others were expelled for attacking Mufa. The proctor said CU vice-Chancellor Prof Iftekkhar Uddin Chowdhury took the decision exercising his executive power.
