At least three people of a family were dead and several others were injured when a devastating fire broke out at a three-storey residential building at Islambagh in the old parts of the city yesterday. They were primarily identified as Shamim, Sima and Saleha. Shamim was identified as Sima’s husband and Saleha was their daughter. Inspector Shamimur Rashid Talukdar, officer-in-charge of Chakbazar Police Station, confirmed the incident but could not tell about the exact causalities. Sources at Fire Service Control Room said the fire broke out in abuilding in Beribadh area of Islambagh around 4:25pm and twelve units of firefighters were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Mizanur Rahman, duty officer of Fire Service Control Room said there was a plastic factory at the building. Without getting the report, I can not tell you the reason behind the fire, he added.
