Revenue earnings go up in Ctg

National Board of Revenue collected Tk 4,384 crore as tax-revenue in Chittagong region during July-January period of fiscal year 2016-17, up by 26.41 per cent from the same period of the last fiscal of Tk 3,468 crore, BSS reports from Chittagong.
Additional commissioner of taxes Bazlul Kabir said this while exchanging views with representatives of Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) at the regional tax office at Agrabad, Chittagon on Friday.
He said the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has planned to collect 13 per cent of its total tax-revenue earning target from the Chittagong region. "We have been able to collect more than half of targeted Tk 9,500 crore in the seven months of the current fiscal," said Kabir.
Replying to a question, he said the lion share of the tax-revenue comes from Chittagong Port. Besides, BSRM, Abul Khair, Berger Paints, Bangladesh Petroleum (BPC) and Karnaphuli Gas Company are the organisations which are in the list of large taxpayers, he added.
