8 DU students get Prof Muktadir Scholarship 
Some eight students of Dhaka University Chemistry Department have been awarded ‘Prof Abdul Muktadir Memorial Scholarship’ for their outstanding academic performances. 
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed scholarships among the students as chief guest at a function at the VC’s lounge of the university. DU Treasurer Prof Md Kamal Uddin presided over the function while Chemistry Department Chairperson Prof Nilufar Nahar, one of the donors of the trust fund Dr Abdul Monaem and Acting Registrar Md Enamuzzaman were present, among others, on the occasion. 
Prof Siddique urged the students to equip themselves with moral values to make Bangladesh a prosperous country. “Students will have to make themselves as worthy citizens along with their academic excellence,” he added. The recipients of the scholarships are- Pushpita Acharjee, Md Mazharul Islam, Salma Akter Mou, Imrul Shahriar, M Mahmudul Hasan, Tanjinatul Karim, Raihana Afroz and Maksuda Perveen. 

Seminar on research grant development held
The North South University Global Health Institute (NGHI) and School of Health & Life Sciences (SHLS) has successfully concluded the seminar on ‘Research Grant Development and Proposal Writing Workshop’, on Saturday, says a press release.
The key note speaker of the seminar was Prof Haider A Khan, John Evans University, Professor of Economics at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies University of Denver. The programme was graced by the presence of Dean, School of Health & Life Sciences, Prof Dr GU Ahsan as chair of the session. The Vice-Chancellor Prof Atiqul Islam also greeted the keynote speaker Prof Haider A Khan as chief guest. Dean, School of Business and Economics, Prof. Dr. M. Mahboob Rahman was present in the seminar as Special Guest and Prof. C. Emdad Haque, University of Manitoba as Guest of honor.
The keynote speaker emphasized the significance of the Research Grant Development and Proposal Writing and gave valuable tips for future grant writing. 

Public lecture on mother language held 
The Department of Law, East West University (EWU) organized a public lecture titled “Mayer Vashay Adalolter Ray” (Judgment of Courts in the Mother Language) on its campus at Aftabnagar in the capital on Saturday, says press release.
Bangladesh Supreme Court Justice Md Ashraful Kamal was the chief guest while Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof MM Shahidul Hassan chaired the programme.
Justice Md Ashraful Kamal also opined that the language of the court should not be complex and it must be comprehensible to general people. He expects that from this February, the month of the language movement, Bangla will be used as the language of the Supreme Court instead of English. In the programme, Chairperson of Department of Law, EWU Prof Dr Tureen Afroz delivered welcome address. 
Prominent judges and lawyers of the country, Chairperson of Board of Trustees, EWU and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, members of Board of Trustees, EWU, teachers, and the students of the Department of Law were also present on the occasion.

Reunion programme held at RU 
RAJSHAHI: The reunion programme and annual general meeting of Rajshahi University (RU) Rover Scouts group (RURSG) was held on the campus yesterday.
RU vice-chancellor and also president of RURSG Prof Dr Mohammed Mizanuddin inaugurated the programme as the chief guest at university Shaheed Sukhronjon Somadder Teacher- Student cultural centre around 10am on the campus.  
Its former member Ptof Selim Reza presided over the programme and Prof M Nasim Reza spoke on while former senior rubermate  Md Abdul Alim conducted the programme.
