A total of six matches were decided on the opening day in the Bubble Gum Inter School Basketball Tournament at Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium yesterday.
Twelve boys and eight girls schools are taking part in the tournament organised by Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF). Chittagong Grammar School trounced Green Gems International School 36-5 in a one sided opening match. The Chittagong School led the first half 21-5.
Summerfield School beat Mangrove School 29-5 after leading the first half 18-3, St Gregory’s High School posted the easiest win of the day outclassing Maple Leaf International 59-2 after leading the first half 21-0. Green Herald School defeated Dhanmondi Tutorial 22-6, St Joseph School downed Green Gems 26-2 and St Nicholas beat Summerfield 35-7 in the other five matches.
BBF president Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin inaugurated the tournament as chief guest. Pran Confectionary head of marketing Shakwat Hossain and brand manager Sajjad Hossain were present as special guests.
