Newly appointed Ambassador of Vietnam to Bangladesh Tran Van Khoa yesterday praised Bangladesh's achievements, particularly sustained economic growth and level of development that Bangladesh achieved under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's leadership, reports UNB.
He particularly hailed Bangladesh's spectacular success in taking out 50 million people out of poverty since 1992 and mentioned that Bangladesh has successfully elevated its stature as a lower middle-income country.
The Ambassador said this when he met State Minister for Foreign Affairs ShahriarAlam at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The State Minister welcomed the new ambassador to Bangladesh and hoped that he would work for deepening bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Vietnam.
Shahriar Alam noted the dynamic economic development and remarkable achievements Vietnam attained over the decades and stated that both the countries can learn from each other.
He emphasised the need for working to reduce the trade gap between the two countries and advised Vietnam to import more high quality Bangladeshi products at a competitive price.
Referring to the prospect of Bangladesh's high quality pharmaceuticals in Vietnam, he requested the government of Vietnam to consider easing the requirement of bio-equivalence and traceability tests for Bangladeshi pharmaceutical products.
