Chinese concepts becoming international consensus

BY SHEN DINGLI

On February 10, the 55th Session of the United Nations Commission on Social Development unanimously adopted a resolution on “Social Dimensions of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development”. The concept of “building a community of common destiny for all of mankind” was written into the resolution for the first time. As everyone knows, China proposed this concept to promote universal cooperation amongst the international community. It points to the future direction of our planet.

Three years ago, China put forward the Belt and Road Initiative. The Belt and Road, which connects the Eurasian continent and extends to the rest of the world, is recognized by the majority of countries and regions. At the 71st Regular Session of the United Nations General Assembly last November, 193 member states unanimously endorsed inclusion of the Belt and Road Initiative in the United Nations General Assembly resolution. It epitomizes the growing influence of China’s concepts and plans.

At the 2017 World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, China’s plans and  concepts received newfound attention. At this critical moment, Chinese President Xi Jinping promised on behalf of China to unswervingly promote economic globalization. China has written a “prescription” for promoting world economic growth, which involves building a dynamic growth model, an open and win-win cooperation model, a fair and reasonable governance model and a balanced and inclusive development model. China’s propositions have greatly boosted the confidence of the international community.

China has benefited from the world in terms of development, and the Chinese people are enthusiastic about giving back to humanity. China’s cooperative practices are in line with the development needs of the times, and China’s win-win thinking brings positive energy to the world.(This article was first published in People’s Daily Overseas Edition and is abridged for use here.
