Two alleged drug traders were killed in a 'gunfight' with detectives at Fatullah yesterday, reports UNB from Narayanganj.
The deceased were identified as Manik alias Killer Manik, 42, and Muktar Hossain alias Mukta, 40, of Pagla Shahi Bazar in the cvapital.
Tipped off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police launched a drive at Shahibazar of Fatullah around 7pm to seize a consignment of drugs, said officer-in-charge of Fatullah Police Station Kamal Uddin.
Sensing the presence of the DB team, Manik and Muktar along with their cohorts opened fire at them, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.
The two alleged drug peddlers were found lying dead on the ground after the gun battle that also left 10 other people, including a policeman, injured, said a spot account of the incident.
