Sylhet experienced heavy to light rainfall, 115mm on Tuesday and 22mm yesterday, the first significant showers after traces of rain in Dhaka city on Monday.
It occurred due to a westerly disturbance that generated the traces of rain in the central parts of the capital on Monday afternoon. The westerly got mixed with southerly moisture-laden air from the Bay, which blows with the advent of spring after the end of winter and days start getting warmer, a meteorologist at the Dhaka Met Office said yesterday.
The sky was heavily overcast in the morning yesterday and remained that way for most of the day, but there was no rain. The maximum temperature rose to 31.7 degrees Celsius.
There are chances of light rain at one or two places in Mymensingh, Dhaka, Sylhet, Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions today, the Met Office said.
The westerly disturbance will disappear on Friday. Days will become warmer, with nights being a little cool and pleasant.
