Narsingdi man kills 3 siblings

A young man reportedly strangulated his three younger siblings to death and hacked his elder brother at Alukbali Purbapara village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
The elder brother, who was attacked with a sharp weapon, survived with critical wounds.
The three killed have been identified as Yasin (12), Mariam (7) and Marjia (5), all children of Abul Kalam of East Alukbali village in Narsingdi Sadar upazila.
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Narsingdi Sadar police station and witnesses said Rubel, 24, son of Abul Kalam, had called his younger brother, Yasin, to his room and strangled him to death. He kept the body in his bedroom, covered with warm clothes.
He then called his sister Mariam and strangled her, too, and similarly covered her body with clothes.
Next, he called his youngest sister, Marjia, killing her in the same way and hiding her body in the room in a similar fashion.
Rubel, finally, went to his elder brother Atiqul Islam, who was then in a madrasa. He told him their mother had fallen ill and that they should rush home. When Atiqul was near their home Rubel attacked him from behind, stabbing Atiqul with a sharp weapon.
Atiqul’s cry for help made local people rush to his help. They rescued him and sent him to the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital in a critical condition.
Kulsum Begum, the mother, discovered the bodies of her three children hidden under piles of warm clothes in Rubel’s bedroom. Rubel tried to flee, but the locals tracked him down two kilometres away after a nightlong search.
Local Alokbali UP chairman Delowar Hossain Sarker informed the Narsingdi Sadar police of the incident. The law enforcers later sent the bodies to the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. 
Police arrested Rubel after the villagers handed him over. A case has been filed with Narsingdi Sadar police stationin this regard. 
Hundreds of curious people gathered at the spot on learning of the incident. The motive behind the murders is not yet known.
