Riding on an Amiruddin Sahrifi hat-trick Shaheen Asmayee FC of Afghanistan defeated Manang Marshyangdi Club of Nepal by 3-1 in the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup football tournament yesterday.
In the day’s first match at the MA Aziz Stadium, almost in the evenly fought match, Afghan captain scored first off his three goals in the first half and completed hat-trick in the second half and Sujal Srestha reduced one goal for Manang Marshyangdi.
The match got off with huge pace right from the starting whistle with attacking approach from each side and continued the tempo in full 90 minutes game.
However, the Shaheen FC, who were better in the possession, drew the first blood through their captain Amiruddin Sharifi scored a beautiful goal when he blasted a right footer from top of the box to finish a combined attack built up from their own half on 35th (1-0).  The Nepalese champions strongly bounced back and
got a chance to equalise the margin just two minutes of conceding the goal but a good header from Anil Gurung denied by the cross bar.
Captain Ameruddin struck again to double the lead when he received a through pass from the midfield and left behind the markers with a super sprint before blasting an angular shot into far post (2-0).
Manang Marshyangdi, who were working hard, became hostile to score goal, reduced the tally with Bimal Basnet powered a header on a Sujal Sreshtha corner on 72nd minute.
Amiruddin completed his hat-trick converting a penalty when Manang’s defender handled the ball inside the area, though it was seemingly
not a right decision on
74th minute (3-1).
As Manang coach, Chhiring Lopang said in the post match press conference that it was a controversial decision.
“It was not right decision, referee could not mark it correctly being very closer, how it was possible to make a right decision by assistant referee from far away.”
