Barisal University observes 6th anniversary
Barisal: Barisal University (BU) authorities have chalked out two-day programme on BU campus to observe ‘University Day’ marking the 6th founding anniversary of BU.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on LGRD Ministry Abul Hasnat Abdullah inaugurated the programme as the chief guest yesterday afternoon.
Later, a discussion was held on Muktamancha premises with Vice-Chancellor of BU Prof SM Emamul Haque in the chair. Chief guest Abul Hasanat Abdullah, Special guest Adv Talukdar Md Eynus and teachers of BU, spoke at the programme, among others.
Today, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will attend the second and closing day programme as the chief guest.
Different universities observe International
Mother Language Day
Different public and private universities observe the International Mother Language Day on Tuesday with due respect and fevour.
North South University (NSU) organised a two-day event on Monday marking the day. The event commenced at the NSU Auditorium with the wall paper exhibition followed by a cultural programme where both national and international students participated. Later, a discussion program based on the aforementioned occasion was hosted by NSU.
On Tuesday, students, faculty-members and officials paid homage to language martyrs by placing at Central Shaheed Minar in the capital.
To commemorate the day, RU authorities chalked out a day long programme including hoisting flag, mourning procession, placing wreath, discussion, offering special prayer and art competition, cultural function. Vice-Chancellor Prof Muhammed Mizanuddin, along with Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan Sajol, Treasurer Prof Sayen Uddin and other officials of the university placed wreath at first hour 12.01 am on Tuesday on Central Shaheed Minar of the university and kept silent for one minute.
Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) began the day at 8am bringing out a procession on the campus-2 at Mirpur where a students, faculty members and officials of BUBT participated.
They placed wreaths to the Martyr-Monument (Shaheed Minar) at BUBT Permanent Campus located at Rupnagar. Later, discussion and cultural program was held. Distinguished dramatist and Ekushe Padak awarded Dr Enamul Haque was present as chief guest in the discussion. Prof Shafique Ahmed Siddique, famous educationist, member and former Chairman of BUBT Trust was the honorable guest and AFM Sarwar Kamal, Chairman of the BUBT Trust was the special guest.
