3 Indian channels to continue transmission

The Appellate Division (AD) of the Supreme Court (SC) yesterday upheld the High Court (HC) verdict that cancelled the writ petition demanding prohibition of broadcast of three Indian channels in Bangladesh territory, reports BSS.
Chamber Judge Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order saying no order upon a petition demanding suspension of the HC order. There is no bar to continuing transmission of three Indian channels, Star Jalsha, Star Plus and Zee Bangla, with the passing of the order, lawyers said. The SC also ordered filing a regular appeal, writ petitioner Advocate Aklas Uddin Bhuiyan told the BSS.
Earlier on February 20, a petition was filed with the SC demanding suspension of the HC order that cancelled a petition demanding stopping of transmission of the three Indian channels. The HC on January 29 cancelled the writ petition demanding directives to stop broadcast of three Indian Channels in Bangladesh territory. Advocate Syeda Shaheen Ara Laily filed the petition with the HC with clippings of a news items published in different national dailies in which a Bangladeshi girl committed suicide on July in 2014 after failing to purchase a dress of Pakhi, a character of a Bengali drama serial titled Bojhe Na Se Bojhe Na, aired on Indian Channel Star Jalsha.
