Bhola: At least 50 people, including traders, journalists and police personnel, were injured in a clash between businessmen and police at Hazirhat Bazar in Manpur upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB.
Officer-in-charge of Manpura Police Station Shahin Khan said some fruit traders set up makeshift shops on the road in Hazirhat Bazar in the morning.
When the OC asked them to relocate the shops, the traders locked into an altercation with the police team, triggering the clash around 11:15am that left at least 50 people injured.
Police fired 10 shots to bring the situation under control, the OC added. The traders claimed that 23 people suffered bullet wounds during the clash.
Mahmudur Rashid, a health officer at Manpura Upazila Health Complex, said 38 injured people were admitted to the health complex with most of them bullet wounds.
