Academic activities of Ram Krishnapur Dhola Government Primary School in Gangni upazila of Meherpur district are badly disturbed as classes are held on the open fields.

The school is plunged into various problems including lack of infrastructure and furniture. Some students are going to elsewhere for want of congenial educational environment.
Ruhul Amin, headmaster of the primary school said the school was established in 1985 and the existing building was constructed in 1993-94. There are 35 decimals of land in which 7 decimals are arable land. There are three classrooms and one office room but in the meanwhile one room has been allotted for pre-primary class.
“We used to take the classes in the remaining two rooms but as the number of students is increasing day by day we have been compelled to take the classes under the open sky,” he added.
President of School Managing Committee Golam Kawsar said the classrooms are vulnerable as cracks have been developed on the roof. Due to lack of classrooms they are compelled to run classes in two shifts. On the other hand, the toilet and hand pump tube well are in sorry state.
There are 160 students and five teachers in the school.
The students of the school said, "We have to attend the classes in crowded rooms and sometimes under the open sky when our suffering increases."
The students do not know when the problem would be solved. The locals are expecting that the academic environment at the school would be restored soon.
Acting Upazila Education Officer of Gangni Ehsanul Habib said the matter would be informed to the higher authorities.
Gangni Upazila Nirbahi Officer Arif-uz-zaman said he will inform the matter to the concerned authorities. He will visit the school soon, he added.
