‘Drug trader’ killed in gunfight

A suspected drug trader was killed in a gunfight between two rival groups at Shikri Battala in Benapole early yesterday.The deceased was identified as Selim, 45, of Bhaberber area in Benapole.
Acting on secret information that two gangs of drug traders were exchanging gunfire over establishing their dominance in the area, a team of police went to the spot and recovered the bullet-hit body of Selim, said Apurba Hasan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station.Selim was wanted in several cases filed under the Narcotics Control Act.Police also recovered one foreign made pistol and two bullets from the spot.
