The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved two charge-sheets against seven people, including a former civil surgeon and a legal officer of Roads and Highway Department, in separate graft cases.
The Commission at its regular meeting on Sunday approved proposals for submitting charge-sheets against them, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
He said one charge-sheet will be submitted before court soon against former civil surgeon (Barisal) Md Khairul Alam, deputy civil surgeon (Barisal) Saidur Rahman, former medical officer of Barisal Civil Surgeon Office Md Habibur Rahman, administrative officer of the same office Zainal Abedin, then zila accountant officer Md Habibur Rahman and contractor Aminur Rahman Chowdhury.
On March 21, 2016, the ACC filed a case against them for allegedly misappropriating public money in procuring medicine.
The Commission also approved another charge-sheet against estate legal officer of Roads and Highway Department Md Jahirul Islam in a graft case filed against him on November 11, 2016. ACC team detained Jahirul red-handed while he was taking bribe from a person.
Another report adds: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday arrested four staff of Jiban Bima Corporation, the lone state-owned life insurance company, in a graft case.
ACC assistant director Debabrata Mandol of its Sylhet Zila office arrested them from Sylhet town on Sunday afternoon, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said.
The arrestees are suspended manager of Jiban Bima Corporation (Sylhet regional office) Abdur Rab Miah, suspended lower division clerk (LDC) Delwar Hossain, suspended upper division clerk (UDC) Wahidur Rahman Majumder and suspended junior officer Md Feroz Alam.
On July 12, 2016, acting manager of Corporation’s Sylhet regional office Md Asaduzzaman filed a case against them with Sylhet Kotwali Police Station for allegedly swindling out about Tk 1.9 crore from the life insurance company.
UNB Further said: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) approved a charge-sheet in a graft case filed against a food inspector.
The Commission at its regular meeting on Monday approved a proposal for submitting the charge-sheet against deputy food inspector (Noldi Food Godown of Narail district) Md Ismail Mrida, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said.
