Evidence found against eleven Mymensingh war crimes suspects

The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) claimed to have found evidence against 11 people of Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh over their alleged involvement in the crimes committed against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971, reports UNB.
Mohammad Abdul Hannan Khan, coordinator and chief investigator of the agency, revealed this at a press briefing at its office in the capital’s Dhanmondi area on Monday morning.
Of the 11, five accused— Mohammad Khalilur Rahman Mir, 62, Mohammad Shamsujjaman, 65, Mohammad Abdullah, 62, Mohammad Abdul Khalek Akanda, 68, and Mohammad Rais Uddin Azadi, 74— are now behind the bars while six others remained absconding.
The 75-page probe report will be submitted to the tribunal’s prosecutor later in the day, Hannan Khan said.
The ICT on Monday issued warrants for the arrest of the six accused.
The investigation agency found their involvement in genocide, torture, arson attack, looting and confinement during the Liberation War, said Hannan Khan.
On October 16, 2014, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)  investigators started the investigation against the 11 who are all residents of Gafargaon upazila.
