Abahani Limited (Dhaka) again displayed a poor show during the finishing hour to manage a goalless draw against Pocheon Citzen Club of South Korea and kept up slim hopes to remain in the race in the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup football tournament.
Held at the MA Aziz Stadium, Chittagong, in the do or die match against, probably the most strongest sides in the tournament, Bangladesh champions survived to have another life line to make a place in the semifinal.
But in their group last match against the Alga FC of Kyrgyzstan they have no option but to win to play in the semifinal.
Abahani’s Croatian coach Dragon Mamic in his post match opinion said that though they have chance to qualify in the semifinal but it would be difficult to win against the Kyrgyz team, as he thinks they are very strong side and play very discipline game.
“If we can win we would have four points, but we have half chance to win against the Kyrgyzstan, as the team is very organised and play discipline game.”
However, one of the top favorites among the title contenders Abahani Limited continued their poor show at the finishing hour, as they just repeated their first match show against the TC Sports when they could not score even a goal from half dozen chances they produced.
On the day match against the Pocheon Citizen of South Korea, they had every opportunity to win the match but due to some unbelievable misses from yards distance of the goalline had to leave the ground with one point.
Abahani looked played with full defensive strategy, as most of the time Korean team enjoyed the ball possessions and created some half chance to score goals.
Despite playing under pressure, Abahani opened spaces but the dismal shows from Emeka Darlington, Camara and Nabib Newaz Jibon were very much upsetting.
Emeka initiated the missing trial on 24th minute when being on a good position his header on a Jonathon corner went outside the post.
Lamine Camara was very much silly when he took a sky-high volley just yards distance from the open post after a Jonathon and Emeka paved the way for him on 61st minute.
Nabib Jibon joined the missing trial when he squandered the last chance of the day. It was also an open net but the youngster also took a sky-high shot rather to tab the ball into the post on 89th minute.
