Two workers were killed and another was injured in a mudslide at a stone quarry in Jaflong of Sylhet yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased were identified as Kamruzzaman, son of Madrish Miah of Telikhal village in Companyganj upazila of the district and Tajuddin, son of Ziadur Rahman of the same village while the injured was Abdur Rashid, son of Masfat Ali, also of the village.
Officer-in-Charge of Goanighat Police Station Delwar Hossain said Kamruzzaman and Tajuddin died on the spot and Rashid suffered injuries after a chunk of mud collapsed on top of them while they were digging for stones at the quarry, located in the Sangrampunji area of Jaflong.
The injured was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Meanwhile, police detained seven people, including owner of the quarry Dulal Ahmed, for interrogation, said the OC.
