Augustin Walson struck twice as the reigning champions Chittagong Abahani Limited made an impressive start in the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup football tournament with a convincing 3-1 victory over Shaheen Asmayee FC of Afghanistan. In the day’s second match, right from the first whistle the host became hostile with strong attacks and squeezed the opponents to open space in the very second minute when Augustin Walason’s good try hit the cross bar. Mamunul, who just came round from fever, paved the way for Augustin Walson to blasted a right footer into near post after receiving a forward pass from the team’s captain on 24th (1-0).The Port City giants backed by some 3000 supporters continued their offensive approach and played with full dominance and doubled the advantage before the lemon break. This time from a counter attack Augustin Walson set off the way for Kingsley Chogozie who sprinted well to past the defenders and kept his cool to place the ball into far post over the goalkeeper (2-0).
After the break, Abahani looked a bit defensive as the Afghan opponents took the possession to put the host into tremendous pressure and reduced one on 57th minute when Said Mohammed Hussain scored the goal from goal-mouth melee (1-2). Abahani, actually changed the strategy to play with counter attack and increased the tally again when a combination of Jamal Bhuiyan and Kingsley was finished by Augustin Walson, who beat two defenders before to propel the ball into net over the goalkeeper (3-1).
