Three Ctg land office staff stand released

Three employees of the Land Acquisition (LA) Department under the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office, Chittagong were stand released for irregularities and corruption. State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed ordered the action against Ahmed Karim, Nazrul Islam and Md Hanif, all “chain man” of the land office, during an unscheduled visit to the office. The junior minister took the step following allegations by some service-seekers, including one Mansur Ali, a retired schoolteacher, and one Saifur. They alleged that some employees of the office were harassing them and did not do their work despite taking bribes. Checking the files, the state minister found the allegations to be true and ordered the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Abdul Jalil to stand release the three chain men — Ahmed, Nazrul and Hanif. State minister Javed told reporters that common people suffer for some employees of the land office. “We have directed the authorities concerned to ensure that no one is being harassed in the land office. We are working to reach services to doorsteps of the people as per the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said. Contacted, the ADC (revenue) Abdul Jalil said Ahmed Karim was transferred to Sandwip upazila, Nazrul to Fatickchhari and Hanif was transferred to Raozan.
