Abahani Limited (Dhaka) have no option but to win the match against Pocheon Citizen of Korea today to confirm their semifinal spot in the Sheikh Kamal International Club football tournament.
The match will take place at the MA Aziz Stadium at 7pm after the day’s first match between TC Sports Club and FC Alga of Kyrgyzstan will be held at 4pm.
The Bangladesh Premier League Abahani are in an embarrassing position after conceding shocking defeat to TC Sports Club of Maldives in their opening game that led the home giants to a challenging situation.
Though the defeat was unfortunate for Abahani after playing with almost full dominance and producing plenty of scoring chances against Maldives. The defeat left Abahani in an embracing situation to move further in the tournament as the local giants will face a more stronger opponents from South Korea.
“It would be very much difficult task for us to defeat the Korean team, I think the Pocheon Citizen team is stronger than TC Sports Club of Maldives to whom we conceded defeat,” said Sattayajit Das Rupu manager of Abahani Limited.
But the long time server as manager of the team was a bit disappointed with the players fitness while the foreign players, who joined the team five days before are yet to adjust with the team and regain their fitness and Hementa Vincent still uncertain to play.
“You see, we had to play the last match without Hementa Vincent and Samad Yusuf, due to their injury, Sunday was also absent because he could not recover his injury and the key performer Lee Tuck also not with the team.”
“So we could not play with our full strength, but whatever the problems, we will have to win this match to remain on the track and boys will do that,” said Rupu.
