Sylhet BCL leader expelled
Sylhet District Awami League deputy office secretary Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Jaglu has been expelled from the party for working against the party-nominated chairman candidate in Osmaninagar upazila parishad polls to be held on March 6.
The partys district unit took the decision at an emergency meeting on Saturday night. A press release signed by district AL general secretary Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said Jaglu has been expelled for vying for the chairman post against the party decision.
Man killed in road crash
A man was killed and five others were injured in a road accident in Rahamatpur area on Barisal-Dhaka highway under of the city yesterday.
The deceased Abdur Rahim, 45, a driver of the three wheeler auto. Local people said the incident occurred when a Barisal bound speedy micro bus collided head-on with a three wheeler and fell into road side ditch. Driver of the three-wheeler died on the spot.
Local people rush to the spot and rescued the victims. The five injured were admitted to SBMCH and body of the driver handed over to the relatives yesterday afternoon.
25 motorcycles recovered
Rangpur District Police recovered 25 motorcycles from different places of Rangpur district in last two months. Mizanur Rahman, police super, Ranpur disclosed the matter at a press briefing at his conference room yesterday.
In press briefing police super said motorcycle lifting has been increased alarmingly for the last few months. Police after getting complaints they conducted drive in different part of the district.
Later, police recovered 25 motorcycles and detained ii people in this connection.
