Police rescued a schoolboy two days after he was abducted at Goatola in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh on Thursday.
The victim was identified as Shahrukh Khan, 9, son of Abdul Kadir Khan of village Duttagram in Ishwarganj upazila of Mymensingh. Shahrukh is a class III student of a local primary school, police sources said.
Quoting family members, Badrul Alam Khan, officer-in-charge of Ishwarganj police station said Shahrukh was allegedly abducted on Tuesday morning while returning home from a local madrassa after taking his Arabic lesson around 8am.
Around 10am on Wednesday, an unknown caller demanded Tk one lakh from Abdul Kadir as ransom to free the boy, police sources added.
After receiving the mobile call, family members immediately informed police and police went for action, said the OC.
Through mobile tracking, police traced the location and a police team from Ishawarganj raided Goatola area and rescued the boy around 7.30pm on Thursday, the OC said.
Police also detained one Al Amin, 35, of village Maliyati in Ishwarganj upazila for his alleged involvement in the abduction.
The arrestee Al Amin, a relative of the victim was produced before a Mymensingh court yesterday that sent him to jail.
