NU special senate session today
The annual special senate session of the National University (NU) will be held on February 18 at the senate hall on the university campus in Gazipur.
The senate members including lawmakers, chairmen of different education boards and professors of different universities will join the session, said a NU press release.
NU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Harun-or-Rashid will chair the session, it said.
BAU, CRP-Bangladesh sign MoU
Mymensingh: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) and Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed (CRP)-Bangladesh at the Vice-Chancellor’s chamber on Thursday.
In presence of BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Ali Akbar, acting registrar Md Saiful Islam on behalf of BAU and Md Shafiqul Islam, executive director of CRP-Bangladesh signed the MoU.
According to the deal, a centre will be set up to provide treatment, rehabilitation and support services focusing on physical, emotional, social, psychological and economic aspects of the teachers, students, officials and the habitants on the campus and also the nearby areas.
Deans of different faculties, senior professors, president and secretary of BAU Teachers’ Association (BAUTA) and many more were also present in the MoU signing programme.
2-day orientation ceremony held at BUBT
Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized two-day orientation ceremonies to receive the newly admitted students of Spring-2017 Semester on the university campus at Mirpur in the capital on February 15 and 16, 2017, says a press release.
AFM Sarwar Kamal, chairman of BUBT Trust, was the chief guest and Prof Md Abu Saleh, vice-chancellor of BUBT, presided over the functions. Prof Md Enayet Hossain Miah, Treasurer of BUBT, and Prof Mian Lutfar Rahman, member of BUBT Trust, and the Proctor of BUBT were the special guests on the occasion.
Chairman of BUBT Trust AFM Sarwar Kamal congratulated all the students and emphasized on sports and physical exercise along with proper learning.
He gave importance on building an enlightened education life through creative works and being a good human being.
Int’l confce on knowledge transfer held
East West University-Centre for Research and Training (EWU-CRT) organized a two-day international conference on knowledge yesterday in observance of its 10th anniversary at EWU, Aftabnagar, Dhaka.
EWU-CRT focused on research, which is the foundation of a good university. EWU-CRT brings out four publications every year, such as East West Journal of Humanities, East West Journal of Business and Social Studies, Abstract of Publication and Research Reports.
This conference was partially sponsored by the World Banks Higher Education and Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP).
The inaugural ceremony of the conference was held yesterday morning. Prof Abdul Mannan, chairman, University Grand Commission (UGC) Bangladesh, was the chief guest. Prof Amitabh Kundu, Institute of Human Development, India was the keynote speaker on the session.
The special guest was Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, chairperson, Board of Trustees, East West University (EWU) and former governor of Bangladesh Bank. And Prof Dr MM Shahidul Hassan, vice-chancellor of EWU was the guest of honour.
Dr Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, chairperson, EWU Center for Research and Training (CRT) and Member, Board of Trustees, EWU Chaired the program.
Besides, Dr M Shahriar Haque, Executive Director of EWUCRT addressed welcome remarks on the occasion.
Participants from India and Bangladesh took part in the conference. Around 22 papers were presented in the conference.
