Newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda yesterday said his commission will work with utmost sincerity and dedication, reports UNB. The CEC came up with the remark while talking to reporters after paying tributes to the Martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Mausoleum at Savar.
Asked about BNP's reaction to his appointment, Nurul Huda said, “Why and how can they (BNP) make such remarks? I have no further comment, it's their party matter."
Huda further said, “We're yet to start our duty. I can only say we're sincere and we've taken the responsibility as a challenge."
Later, the CEC signed the visitors' book kept on the premises of the National Mausoleum.
Four new commissioners -- Mahbub Talukder, Rafiqul Islam, Begum Kabita Khanam and Brig Gen (rtd.) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury -- were, among others, present during the visit.
On February 9, BNP criticised Nurul Huda alleging, “The new CEC is talking the way the ruling party spokesperson does."
