Kayes claims he is fit to tour SL

Left-handed opener Imrul Kayes is hopeful to return to Test squad ahead of the upcoming full series against Sri Lanka.

Kayes will play the next round of the franchisee-based Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) longer version for Prime Bank South Zone on Saturday.
Kayes started his rehabilitation after returning home from India. Last two days he has been batting, running along with regular gym session at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground.
“I started rehabbing after returning home from India. Last two days I have been batting, running along with gym. It seems to me that there is no more pain in my thigh. Even I feel no problem at times of running and batting,” said Imrul Kayes, who played so far 27 Test for Bangladesh since stepping into Test debut against South Africa in 2008.
“Actually I fell very well. Hopefully I could play BCL on February 19,” Kayes told reporters yesterday.
Imrul sidelined with thigh injury and back home from New Zealand and did  not play the two-match Test series against New Zealand. Therefore, he went to tour in India being fit. But this time he also missed to play the historic one-off Test against India after recurring the same injury.
The 29-year-old batsman tipped him unlucky to miss the opportunity to play the last two consecutive Test series against New Zealand and India.
“The injury I sustained in New Zealand I recovered it before touring in India. But I got it in the same place in Hyderabad,” the left-handed batsman said.
“Actually no one fall in injury willingly. Every player wishes to be hundred percent fit. It is my hard luck that I missed to play the last two Test series in New Zealand and India,” he said.
He believes that BCL will help him to back in Test ahead of the next bilateral series against the Islanders.
“Actually I could not play domestic cricket for a longer period. Playing domestic cricket I could brim with confidence. Along with that, I could get to know how much I recovered from my injury. Hopefully the match will be positive for me in terms of batting, fielding and overall the matters,” Meherpur-born Kayes thinks.
