Nannu against wholesale changes

Sports Reporter

BCB selection panel chairman Minhajul Abedin Nannu said that there is no opportunity for bringing any major change in Bangladesh squad for the upcoming full away series against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh will fly for Colombo, Sri Lanka to play the bilateral series on February 27 or 28. The series will be comprised of two Tests, three ODIs and two T20Is. But they will play practice match before going into the main series.
“We just finished two successive international series. The forthcoming series in Sri Lanka will be third series for us. We have those performers who are virtually tried and tested. We will keep the best possible squad for it,” said Minhajul Abedin.
“Then if there is any injury problem, in that case, it will be replaced. But I think there will be no chance of major change in squad for the Sri Lanka series. We are taking the series against Sri Lanka very seriously,” Nannu told media at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium yesterday.
“I think the experience we gathered from the last three Test matches it will be helpful for us. in Sri Lanka. And if we could capitalize it then we could do play better cricket, Inshallah,” he added.
After the stunning performance in New Zealand condition, Bangladesh will play two series one after another in our subcontinent. Already they have played against India, where they have fought the entire five days. After such performance, how they will perform in the next series in Sri Lanka.
When asked about it, this former skipper said that if they could implement what they learnt from the last two consecutive away tours in New Zealand and India then the result in Sri Lanka series will also be better.
“Last year Sri Lanka beat Australia by 3-0. We have that in our mind. But I think that our players just started playing series outside of the country. We just played three Tests so far,” the selection panel chairman said.
“But I think the experience we gathered from the one-off Test in India if we could utilize it properly and if we could minimize the number of errors, then we could play our positive cricket in Sri Lanka,” the chairman also said.
After the end of the India series, the board released all the players for the next 10 days. They once again will get together on February 24 for the Sri Lanka series. In the meantime, the board will announce their final squad for the series.
Neither Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) nor Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLCB) has released the itinerary of the series yet. But the series will start with Test and end with T20. ODI matches will be played in between two-match Test as many as T20 series.
