Indian Foreign Secretary Dr S Jaishankarwill arrive in the capital on February 23 to discuss with his Bangladeshi counterpart the proposed upcoming visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a foreign ministry press release revealed yesterday.
According to sources concerned, Dhaka and New Delhi are trying to work out a date of the visit at the beginning of April. When asked about the date, Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali told a press conference yesterday that work is on to fix a date.
The press conference was organised to brief journalists about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Germany to attend Munich Security Conference and hold a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel from February 17-19.
The Indian foreign secretary will come to Dhaka on his way back to New Delhi from China, said the sources.
During the visit at the invitation of foreign secretary, both the top diplomats will review areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, said a foreign ministry press release.
“They are also expected to discuss the proposed visit of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to India,” it said.
During the visit, the Indian foreign secretary will call on the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali.
He will leave Dhaka in the morning of 24 February.
