A human chain was formed at the district Press Club premises yesterday protesting the recent threat on two journalists and attacks on locals of Saltha upazila, reports BSS.
Faridpur Press Club organized the human chain this noon. Different walks of people, socio cultural organizations and locals of Saltha upazila joined the programme complaining against the torture, attack and threat by a rebel group “Mama Bahini” of Saltha upazila.
The protesters also submitted a memo to the Deputy Commissioner of the district.
Speakers in the rally alleged that the local rebel group is involved in collecting tolls and continuing torture and threat.
Administration and Police should take stern action to the identified perpetrators, they demanded. The speakers claimed that two journalists Selim Molla and Nurul Islam Nahid of local Bangla dailies Bangalee Khobor and Vorer Prottyasha became victims of attacks and received life threats from the “Mama Bahini” as the two journo published the evil activities of the group.
