The Department of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) on Tuesday fined the Mobile operator Robi Tk 5,000 for deceiving subscribers while offering vague internet package.
Robi fined Tk 5,000 after a customer named Mohammd Rubel Mia filed a complaint against the operator.
In his complaint, Rubel said that he had purchased an ‘unlimited’ internet package at the cost of Tk 746 offered by Robi. However the package actually offered 6GB in 3G service and 10GB in 2G service.
Rubel complained that the 16GB is not the same as ‘unlimited’. Moreover he failed to use most of his 2GB data because of slow speed.
As per the directive of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, Rubel got one-fourth of the sum and the rest was deposited to the state coffer.
