2 missing girls found dead
Chapainawabganj: Two minor girls who went missing on Sunday were found dead in a sack at the house of one of their neighbours at Namoshankarbati-Fatepur mahalla in Chapainawabgan municipality area on Tuesday, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Sumaiya Khatun Meghla, 7, a Class-I student and daughter of Milon Rana, and Mehjabin Akhter Maliha, 6, a nursery student of the same school and daughter of Abdul Malek.
Police and locals said Meghla and Maliha went missing after they came out of their houses on Sunday morning in a bid to play.
Later, the family members informed the matter to Sadar Model Police Station.
A team of the police station raided every house of the locality from Tuesday noon and later they found their bodies at the house of van puller Yeasin Ali around 7pm, said officer-in-charge of the police station Mazharul Islam.
Police also arrested Yeasin, his wife Tanjila Begum and son’s wife Lucky Khatun, he said.
Police super TM Mojahidul Islam said police they will be able to ascertain the reason behind the killing after interrogating the detainees.
Jessore student injured in teacher’s beating

A ninth grader of Sharsha Pilot High School in Sharsha upazila of the district suffered injuries in one of his eyes as his class teacher’s stick hit him while beating another student on Monday.
The victim, identified as Mahfuzur Rahman, 14, son of Aminur Rahman of Swarupdaho village in Sharsha upazila, was admitted to National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Victim’s maternal grandfather Abdur Rahim has already filed a case with Sharsha Police Station against the teacher concerned, said officer-in-charge Maniruzzaman.
According to the case statement, Zahirul Islam Milon, an English teacher of the high school, was beating a student of section A of class-IX with a can stick on Monday. Mahfuz was sitting beside the boy.
Unfortunately, one of his attempts hit the left eye of Mahfuz, leaving him seriously injured, said headmaster of the school Shaidul Islam. He said the school authorities will bear the cost of the treatment of the victim.
Secondary education officer of the upazila Hafizur Rahman said corporal punishment in schools a punishable offence. Legal action will be taken against Zahirul, he added.
