Fifteen students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) face punishment, including cancellation of studentship, for their involvement in several offences over the past few months.
Four students have been punished for resorting to unfair means in the exam hall, while two more have been suspended temporarily for their involvement in admission test forgery.
The university authorities temporarily suspended nine students for their alleged involvement in a clash that took place on January 10 at Bottola and Selim Al Deen Muktamancha area. Of them, the studentship of Md Zahidul Islam of Anthropology 40 batch (master's) has been cancelled as he had reportedly written answers on his additional answer scripts outside the exam hall and then tied those with the original answer-sheet.
Soyeb Akhter of Geological Science 41 batch, Shamim Ahmed of IBA 44 batch and Nazmus Sakib of Pharmacy 44 batch have been fined Tk. 10,000 each.
The exam in which they tried to adopt unfair means was cancelled.
