Parliamentary standing committee on Road Transport and Bridges Ministry yesterday asked the concerned ministry to take necessary measures in reducing road traffic accidents across the country, reports BSS.
The call came at a time when policymakers were embarrassed with frequent road accidents on highways, one of which left over a dozen dead last week.
The accidents are caused mostly because of reckless driving, narrow highways, excess traffic and poor road safety awareness.
Held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman Mohammad Ekabbar Hossain in the chair, the meeting was attended by committee members Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, AKMA Awal, Nazmul Haque Prodhan, Mohammad Monirul Islam, Lutfun Nesa and Nazim Uddin Ahmed.
