Several opposition members of British Parliament have discussed the means to combat terrorism and violent extremism as well as matters related to air service with Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali.
The discussion between Labour Friends of Bangladesh (LFB) UK, a caucus comprising some UK MPs of opposition Labour Party and the Foreign Minister took place at the state guest house Padma on Sunday, according to a Foreign Ministry press release issued yesterday.
Both sides also discussed a number of issues of mutual interest including bilateral trade and investment relations, Bangladesh community in UK and their contribution in British society and economy, visa facilitation and regional and international issues.
The LFM delegation comprises three members of the British Parliament -- Jonathan Ashworth, Shadow Health Minister, Dr Rupa Huq, Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Dame Rosie Winterton, Former Minister and Chief Whip. Others were the executive members of LFB -- Howard Dawber, Chair of LFB, Syed Abul Bashar, General Secretary of LFB, Councillor Abdul Hai and Councillor Asma Begum. The delegation also comprised four British businessmen of Bangladesh origin.
