Presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League Advocate Shahara Khatun yesterday said the Islam doesn’t support militancy as there is no room for terrorism and militancy in Islam, reports BSS.
“The present government has taken zero tolerance policy against militancy as country’s soil would never be allowed to use as springboard for conducting militant activities,” she said this as chief guest at a meeting in the capital while exchanging views with Islamic scholars (alem-olama) at Ashkona Hajj Camp in capital’s Uttara area.
Shahara Khatun said ‘alem samaj’ is being played an important role in resisting terrorism and militancy in society by giving specific explanation about Islam.
She urged alem samaj to remain alert as vested quarters could not destroy the foundation of peaceful coexistence and communal harmony in Bangladesh.
Islamic foundation Bangladesh organized the views exchange meeting.
Foundation chairman Shahim Mohammad Afzal Hossain, Islamic foundation welfare association’s member secretary M Harnnor Rashid took part in the discussion.
