Hyderabad Test Tit-Bits

Mahmudullah’s determination
Under pressure to score with the BCB pondering Liton Das as a specialist wicket-keeper in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, Mahmudullah Riyad held on the ground firmly. As Mushfiqur Rahim struggled behind the wicket, the BCB has already hinted, a specialist wicket-keeper could take Mushfiqur’s place which meant that a specialist batsman should be dropped. It could be either Mahmudullah or Sabbir Rahman, considering both of them weren’t in great from. Mahmudullah meanwhile couldn’t hit any fifty plus score in the last nine matches. So he was under pressure but he stood tall at the moment when his career is under threat. Defying the venomous spin of Ashwin and Jadeja, swing of Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Bhubneshwar Kumar, he made 64 before being undone by an accurate bouncer from Sharma.

Virat Kohli’s Test
He scored a tremendous 204, his fourth successive double century in the last four series, leaving ultimate great Sir Donald Bradman and compatriot great Rahul Dravid, who scored three in three straight series, in shed. He led India in sixth successive series, since the one in Sri Lanka 2015. He led India to 19 matches without a defeat, going past Sunil Gavaskar's record. The only losses under his captaincy have been in Adelaide 2014-15 and Galle 2015. And he also claimed the most Test runs (1206) in a home season. Anyone could hardly doubt that it is Virat Kohli’s Test.
Kamrul Islam Rabbi’s resistance
Fast bowler Kamrul Islam Rabbi seemed to become the image of resistance in Bangladesh’s batting. In the last Test against New Zealand he hung on there for 62 balls to score two runs and remained unbeaten. In India, when Bangladesh crumbled under pressure, he frustrated India by scoring just three off 70 balls. And India couldn’t pick up his wicket like the New Zealand bowlers.

Ashwin takes Mushi’s autograph on the ball
India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took the autograph of Mushfiqur Rahim on the ball with which he got to 250-wicket landmark in his 45th Test as the fastest bowler of the world, eclipsing Australian legend Dennis Lillee’s record of 48th Test. Ashwin approached Mushfiqur during the presentation ceremony for an autograph
to which smiling Mushfiqur nodded positively and put the signature. Mushfiqur was the 250th wicket of Ashwin in fact.

A bizarre end to the Test
Ashwin's slider beat No.11 Taskin Ahmed, with umpire Marais Erasmus' review for a bat-pad catch returning no snick. The soft dismissal was out. So why Virat Kohli would miss the chance to take a review. In fact he got enough hints what it could be when third umpire was checking the on-field umpire’s review for bat-pad catch. Kohli reviewed for lbw, after which ball-tracking returned three reds to put the icing on India's cake.
