New project to strengthen Nat’l Museum launched

A new programme titled ‘Conservation with Advanced Technique for Cultural Heritage (CATCH)’ was launched with a two-week on-site workshop in the capital yesterday, reports BSS. This programme will help strengthen the capacity of Bangladeshi government officials on museum collection display, management of conservation science laboratory, and archaeological excavation techniques with US$ 1 million (Tk 8 crore).
Besides, the programme will help develop the mutual relationship between Korea and Bangladesh by the exchanging of cultural heritage policy and technique.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and Korean Ambassador in Dhaka Ahn Seong-doo inaugurated the programme at Bangladesh National
Museum.
Among others, Country Director of KOICA Bangladesh Office Joe Hyun-Gue, Director General of Bangladesh National Museum Faizul Latif Chowdhury, UNESCO Representative Beatrice Kaldun and Managing Director of Youngone Corporation Bangladesh Jahangir Saadat were present.
Bangladesh National Museum will receive various types of modern equipment for conservation analysis and conservation treatment for better management of the conservation laboratory, according to KOICA officials.
