‘Criminal’ killed in Munshiganj gunfight

A suspected criminal was killed in a gunfight between his cohorts and police at Boikhor in Munshiganj district town early yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Shahjalal Miji, an accused in 22 cases filed with different police stations of the district. Police super of the district Mohammad Jayedul Alam said Miji was arrested on Sunday afternoon and police, acting on his statement, conducted a drive in the area the following day to recover arms. Sensing police presence, Alam said, his associates opened fire prompting the law enforcers to fire back, triggering a gunfight. Later, police recovered Miji’s bullet-hit body from the spot. Police recovered two pistols and two sharp weapons from the scene. Three policemen were also injured in the gunfight. They were admitted to General Hospital.
